June 2024 kicks off the official start of my writing journey for Silent Whiskey. It is exciting and terrifying, but I am ready to begin with the hours and hours of research this book will require. If you haven’t checked out the new website be sure to take a look around. I have included a countdown for when I’m hoping (fingers crossed) to publish Silent Whiskey along with word count and drafting countdowns and a separate page of the novel information. I’ll be updating the book blurb as I work through the drafting process. There is also an event link at the top of the site for any writing challenges or events I’m attending in 2024/2025.
Of course, I always have to have a playlist to go along with my novels, so there is also a link to my official Silent Whiskey Spotify playlist. It has the Top 51 songs (50 + 1 extra) that have inspired my novel, thus far. If you want to listen to all of the songs (over 200 songs!) I’m listening to while I’m writing Silent Whiskey, sign up for my monthly newsletter. Newsletter subscribers will get a link to the extended Spotify playlist in my welcome email. Subscribers will also be the first to hear about novel updates, see cover and character reveals, and much more.
June Challenge
I chose to start in June for several reasons, the first because June and July tend to be quieter for me at work, although that isn’t the case right now. I’m hoping that will change in the next week or so. The second is a writing challenge in June: Journey on June: 4 weeks, 40K Challenge. While the official challenge is to write a 40k-word novel, I’m going rogue and working through 40k words of research.
What I’ll be Researching
You guessed it: Whiskey! I need to do some massive research on whiskey among other alcoholic beverages. I’ve picked up a few books from the library, but my local libraries have a very limited selection of the books I need. I recently came across Thriftbooks. It has quickly become my favorite place to find harder-to-find books. I recently placed my biggest order yet of 12 books. I’m sure the inventory staff is wondering why someone is ordering books on whiskey and murder, among other crazy things. I’m sure they’ve put me on some sort of watch list.
